            I’ve owned this book for awhile, I actually don’t remember when I bought it, and I finally got around to reading it the past week! I’ve got to admit, I originally bought it for the aesthetic of the cover- it’s so cool. Besides, a book about a badass girl and a hopeless boy? Yes, please.

            SO. Reboot is about a girl named Wren who died, and 178 minutes later she woke up. When you die and come back you’re no longer human, and no you’re also not a zombie. You ‘Reboot’. You become stronger, faster, able to heal, and become less emotional. The longer it takes a person to Reboot, the less human they are. Our main character is the deadliest Reboot in the known universe (though it does only take place in a couple locations in Texas in some sort of post-apocalyptic world). She trains the newbies to be tough like her, except when she’s training a boy who’d only been dead for 22 minutes; her task is more than a little difficult. Our novel is a gripping story about friendship, love, and freedom and since it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger I’m not that interested in reading the sequel.

            178 and 22 have an interesting relationship. Callum is sweet and human-like, and honestly reminds me of one of my own relationships. It takes awhile but that cutie wins Wren’s affections and they decide to escape their government holding cells when she is ordered to exterminate the troublesome 22! I’d say their relationship was pretty well-written and adorable. It has a happy ending which was a pleasant surprise. Too many books that I’ve read recently have ended either bitter-sweet or full on tragedy so this was a nice change-up. Like I said before, the story ends on a pleasant note, not a huge cliffhanger or anything so I’m kind of content where the story is right now and might not read the sequel… 

            I don’t particularly have anything to nitpick at, there’s nothing that I disliked about this book and would totally recommend it to anyone interested! At the same time it was a bit underwhelming. The concept of Reboots is interesting and I think it could have been explored a bit more in this first book with some more background details. Specifically, What happened to the rest of the world? What is bringing these people back to life? Why is it that kids adapt better to being Reboots; does the government kill every adult Reboot? The book didn’t make me passionate by reading it, which is why I feel pretty “meh” about the book as a whole.

I won this book in an author giveaway on Goodreads. This has not altered my opinion in any way and my review will be honest, as usual.

            When I first read the blurb for this book, I thought it would be perfect for me. It seemed like exactly the kind of book I needed to read at the moment. Ok so he wasn’t my first boyfriend, but he was the first guy I actually cared about and it was the first time someone had broken up with me, so I felt like I could really relate to what Dom was going through and that reading a book getting over a breakup would help me out emotionally too.

            Reading through Dom’s perspective was great, I felt like her best friend that she shared everything with. Sure, I didn’t always agree with her decisions like looking at her ex-bag or talking to her ex post-breakup but as she said, life is full of ups and downs. You can’t have happiness without sadness; you can’t have passion without pain. You will have lows, but you will also have high moments in your life as well. She might not have founds the perfect guy for her, but her heartache helped her discover what she wanted.

1)    To never put a guy before her dreams

2)    That each guy had his own pros (Love, Passion, and Friendship) and that all three are necessary for a relationship.

I might not have a Calvin or a Guy in my life, but I’ve had a Wes. This book put me in Dom’s world so know I don’t NEED to learn for myself. Anatomy of a Single Girl did for me what every great book should do. Teach.

            On top of Dom’s awesomeness the reader also gets a great friendship between Dom and Amy. Dom realizes what boys do to their relationship now that Amy is the one ditching Dom for her boyfriend. Seeing Her point of view of Amy and her relationship was another eye opener for me. You want someone to love you for who you are, but sometimes you can’t help but change. However, above all your girls have your back. As Dom’s mom expresses at the beginning of the book, school is the time to meet all sorts of people, not the time to latch on to one person who’s “the love of your life”. Growing up is about discovering who you are and what you really want.

I feel like this review is really short for some reason but I really can’t find anything else to say about it. The writing style was simple and powerful. Everything about the characters was realistic. The author even goes out of her way to show how the book could have ended- if it was an unrealistic movie. There was nothing not to like about Anatomy of a Single Girl!
